- 1879 Established by Scotsman William Hood who called his Plantation Glen Flora (originally the Col. J.B. Sanford home)
- 1896 The Cane Belt Railroad was completed and many towns sprang up along the corridor.
- 1900 town was laid out by a group of
Pennsylvania Dutch investors headed by C. H. Waterhouse for the purpose
of growing sugar cane.
- May 1902 Glan Flora Town Company formed
- April 1906 Glen Flora Town Company reorganized
- 1912 buildings including the
Emporium Antique mall, a 7500 square foot two story brick building
established by plantation owner, William Hood, one of the founders of
the town.
