• 1882 Established when the New York, Texas and Mexican Railroad was built through Wharton County connecting Richmond to Victoria.
• J.D Hudgins Inc. Ranch has the largest registered herd of American Gray Brahmans in the world. Cattle from this ranch have been exported to 34 U.S. states and over 42 countries. Manso, the bull is the cornerstone of their registered Brahmans. Over 75% of all cattle registered with the American Brahmans Breeders Association are descendents of Manso.
• In the center of Hungerford is THC Marker Park with four Texas Historical Commission markers. They mark the site of Post West Bernard  Station: an ordnance depot established in 1937 by the Republic of Texas as well as a marker for the Site of Quinan Community Village (Established 1872) which was named for Judge George E. Quinan who helped found the state Bar association.  The third marker is for the New York, Texas & Mexican Railroad and the Community of Hungerford: Railroad was built by Italian workers with stations along its route named after members of the Mackay and Telfener families. The fouth marker is for the J.D.  Hudgins Ranch.  J.D. Hudgins came to Texas in 1839. The fifth marker honors Josiah Dawson Hudgins, born in 1852. He created a legacy that impacted the cattle industry.
• 1926 Strouhal's  Tire and Recapping plant is established. It is family owned and operated and the second largest business in Hungerford and the largest Independent Michelin tire dealer in Texas. They employ over 250 persons with two recapping plants and nine tire centers in Texas.
• 1980 Staightway, an independent faith-based residential drug prevention and training center. It is located on a former high school campus with 80 acres that can house 50 students for a program led by a 25 member staff. It is the headquarters for the largest drug prevention team in Texas with 21 full time members who travel throughout Texas.
