  • 1870's English Settlers arrive in present day Lissie
  • Community originally named New Philadelphia
  • January 1878 first post office established
  • 1894 name changed to Lissie in honor of first school teacher Melissa Leveridge
  • October 31 1894 post office re-established with new name Lissie after being discontinued three years.
  • Town was burned down to keep out cattle theives who took over town after residents moved because they could not make a living
