1870's English Settlers arrive in present day Lissie
Community originally named New Philadelphia
January 1878 first post office established
1894 name changed to Lissie in honor of first school teacher Melissa Leveridge
October 31 1894 post office re-established with new name Lissie after being discontinued three years.
Town was burned down to keep out cattle theives who took over town after residents moved because they could not make a living
